What if, all you need isn’t more information, more words, more secrets to get (…) or to be (…), more conversations, more communication, more motivation… but more space for silence?
When was the last time you’ve been in the silence of your being?
When was the last time you’ve let silence in?
How did it #feel?
For me, silence isn’t only about the sound,
It’s a mix of quietness & presence that embraces all of the senses;
If I had to give silence a music, it would be “You” from Petit Biscuit,
An image; it would be the majestic view from the top of a mountain, where birds let themselves plunge, carried by the wind,
A touch; that of the sun on my skin a sweet autumn afternoon,
A taste; that of an expresso in a cosy coffee,
A smell; that of a night blooming jasmine.
Silence has its own unique feeling; that of time stretching to infinity.
So elusive and yet, it makes everything so tangible,
So subtle and yet, when in contact with it, everything increase in intensity.
Like these styles that never go out of style,
Anywhere, anytime; we can’t go wrong with silence.
And yet, sometimes or often, silence makes us uncomfortable,
Have you ever wondered why?
Maybe because what we perceive as a vacuum is actually full of sense,
Maybe because in the silence, masks fall,
Maybe because there are words that are only spoken when we are silent.
And so, we fill its rightful place;
We do the conversation,
We switch on the TV,
go on Netflix/ Instagram/ Facebook/ or whatever,
We check our emails,
overwork, overeat, overspend,
And in the end, what do we get out of all of this? Noise, always more noise.
I love silence.
I have always been silent. And for a long time, I have been very self-conscious about it; until I understood that my quietness was a gift.
I have always wanted silence. And for a long time, I used to feel guilty about it. Until the day I received this newsletter from @sorcieremorgane ; “Silence, Solitude, Serenity”. That day, I officially gave myself permission to have what I’ve always wanted.
Silence is not only part of who I #am and what I strive to #have;
Silence is also what I #do and have always done.
I create silence, for myself and for others.
Or more precisely, I create space for silence,
and I do it in spite of myself.
For years, I’ve worked for companies that were craving silence,
without really knowing or admitting it.
“We have a strategy, but nothing is getting done” was the reason why they were hiring me.
Time was beyond their control and so was their money.
Everyone was in constant movement, but without direction.
So, I did what I know best;
I blended in the background,
People loved to tell me their stories and me, I loved to listen to them,
I absorbed every detail…until this moment;
The moment I started to see patterns.
I’ve never given anyone any solution. I prefer leaving questions,
but not any questions;
those that need to be asked.
